Taekwondo Hero of September 2021

We are delighted to announce the Korean Taekwondo Association of Washington DC, President Master YJ Kim and World Academy of Taekwondo Culture, President Dr. No Kyun Oh presented The World Taekwondo Hero of the Month Award and Plaque of Appreciation to Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan on Friday, September 10. Governor Larry Hogan was selected as TKD Hero because on Monday, April 5th, 2021, he officially proclaimed April 5th as Taekwondo Day in the state of Maryland. We are grateful for a day dedicated to celebrating Taekwondo. Those of us that are passionate about Taekwondo feel that it is a way of life. We have established our own culture where people from all over the world come together as a family trying to better ourselves, encourage each other, give back to our community and strive to always do our best. We feel Maryland’s Taekwondo Day will help raise awareness of Taekwondo programs in the community and will help get more kids and adults active in Taekwondo. We want to share our ways and help as many people as we can to have better physical and mental health. We appreciate Governor Hogan’s dedication to Taekwondo and feel he deserves to be recognized and awarded for his contributions and acknowledgements to the Taekwondo community.
